How does the free 100 pages / month work?
Every account gets 100 pages a month, free forever. They reset on the 1st. If you go over on Starter, the API returns 402 — no surprise charges. Team and Enterprise plans absorb the 100 free pages into their bucket.
How is a “page” defined?
One side of paper / one PDF page. A 32-page contract is 32 pages. A spreadsheet rendered to one PDF page is one page. We don’t multi-count by complexity.
Do you offer a HIPAA BAA?
Yes, on Team and Enterprise. The BAA is mutual, executed before any PHI data flows. Vellum is HIPAA-certified end-to-end (encryption at rest + in transit, audit logs, tenant isolation).
Can we self-host?
Enterprise customers can run Vellum in their own VPC or on-prem with bring-your-own-GPUs. We support air-gapped deployments for government and AmLaw 100 firms. Contact sales for the deployment guide.
What happens if a field is below the confidence threshold?
You configure the threshold per pipeline (default 0.85). Anything below routes to a human-in-the-loop queue inside Vellum. Reviewers see the source page with the bounding box highlighted, fix the field in one click, and the correction trains your tenant’s active-learning model.
Can we cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans cancel monthly, annual plans pro-rate the unused balance. Your extracted data stays in your ERP / warehouse — Vellum doesn’t lock it up.
